Thing #23: The end, or the beginning?

As I mentioned in my audio post, my favorite Things we're exploring Flickr and actually creating a blog. Perhaps I had the most fun exploring Flickr because I hadn't had any experience using it before and it was completely new.

I loved the idea of this program and being able to share and comment on other participants experiences. Having a community working on the same thing and supporting each other was great also.

I'd be keen as mustard to participate in similar programs in the future, would you give something similiar a go again?

Massive thanks to Wags for organising this and keeping it running!

Thing #22: Create your own audio or video message

Thing #21: Podcasts

Ok, so I thought I'd take this thing as an opportunity to get back on the Marketing subject. Searching Small Business Marketing in the iTunes directory (Small Business Marketing is especially relevant to me as my girlfriend is a Personal Trainer and Small Business Owner) I came across a Podcast by fellow Melbournians Tim Reid and Luke Moulton. I've listened to quite a few and they are and have been extremely helpful and easy to apply to the Personal Training business.

A great thing about the Podcasts, and iTunes, is that when a new Podcast is uploaded, iTunes will automatically go and download the new ones, it's great!

I'm looking forward to using my new RED iPod (I've never owned one before) and copying my favorite Podcasts and music to listen on the train with the free train ticket I won recently :P

Thing #20: Discover YouTube

YouTube is a fun site to kill a few hours on. Whether you want to search something useful such as "how to" instructional videos, watch funny clips or reminisce famous sporting moments like Shane Warne's Hat Trick against the Poms (right).

Features is like about YouTube is the fact that you can set up your own page and link all the videos you post in one place and the Related Videos section is handy to watch more videos related to your previous search. A feature that I don't like is that you are not able to upload any videos that are longer than 10 minutes. I tried to upload the Tony Palmer interview to YouTube but it wouldn't let me!

Thing #19: Discovering Web 2.0 Tools

I was having a look through the CNET Webware 100 winners list and could not help but have a look at Remember The Milk. Simply it is an online To-Do List. I know there are a lot of them out there and this is one of the better ones. It is an easy sign up process and simple to create your lists. You have to ability to access your lists from Gmail, via SMS, on mobile handsets, Skype, and popular IM clients. Because of this, you can access it from nearly anywhere, all without having to return to its Web site. I don’t have an iPhone (yet) but the iPhone App looks really neat!

So if you cant remember what’s on your to do list, check out Remember The Milk!

Thing #18: Online Productivity Tools

I love Google Docs. I’ve been an active user for a while now. It is so simple to use and very intuitive, so I didn’t have to spend a great deal of time learning how to use another software application.

My favourite features of Google Docs is the fact that I can access my files anywhere in the world as they are all stored in my Google login and when I’m checking me Gmail they’re only a hyperlink away. Also, the fact that I can share documents with other user is a very useful tool for me. Perhaps the most impressive feature is that all of my formulas work like a dream in the spreadsheets!

When we signed up for this program, we had to complete a form. This was created with Google Docs. Since discovering this tool, I have used it quite a lot… and it’s so easy!

If it’s file sharing that is the most exciting feature of Google Docs, check out DropBox. It allows you to synchronise your files in a folder, and have access to them across your home computer, office computer, mobile phone and via the web! This is a really cool and useful tool – read more now! (There is even a Plain English by Lee Le Fever video)

Thing #17: Wikipedia

I haven’t spent a lot of time on Wikipedia before the 23 Things program and after having a poke around for a while I’ve found it very interesting. The fact that it relies solely on users to create the content is very unique.

I searched a few topics and hit the ‘Random article’ link to see what was around. I even set up an account and was going to do page on myself, but the terms said not to do that!
